Chicago Police Department(CHICAGO) -- In a unexpected reversal, Cook County prosecutors have decided to drop all charges against Empire star Jussie Smollett, who had previuosly been indicted on 16 felony counts related to his claim that he was the victim of a racially-motivated attack in Chicago in January.

"Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him," said his lawyers in a statement.

"Jussie was attacked by two people he was unable to identify on January 29th. He was a victim who was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public causing an inappropriate rush to judgement," the statement continued.

"Jussie and many others were hurt by these unfair and unwarranted actions. This entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion," it concluded.

"That is wrong.  It is a reminder that a victim, in this case Jussie, deserves dignity and respect. Dismissal of charges against the victim in this case was the only just result. Jussie is relieved to have this situation behind him and is very much looking forward to getting back to focusing on his family, friends and career."

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) -- With so many plot threads to tie up -- and superhero dust to vacuum -- it's no surprise Avengers: Endgame will need some extra time to bring the events of last year's Infinity War to a satisfying conclusion.

About three hours and two minutes' worth, evidently.

The website for the theater chain AMC has posted the alleged running time of the film, under the code name Extra.

In an interview with Collider last month, sibling directors Joe and Anthony Russo had mentioned that early cuts of the movie were clocking in at over three hours -- and no, nobody who saw the advance screenings left for a bathroom break.

At the time, Joe noted, "We're still at the three-hour mark. I think the studio is down with what the best story is." He added, "When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours' worth of real estate."
A three-hour, two-minute running time would make Avengers: Endgame the longest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by a mile. By comparison, its immediate predecessor, last year's Infinity War, was a then-longest two hours, 40 minutes.

For the record, the shortest of the MCU films, 2011's Thor, clocked in at a downright skimpy hour and 54 minutes.

Here are the run times of all the other Marvel Studios films:

Iron Man (2008) - 2 hours, 6 minutes
The Incredible Hulk (2008) - 1 hour, 52 minutes
Iron Man 2 (2010) - 2 hours, 5 minutes
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - 2 hours, 4 minutes
The Avengers (2012) - 2 hours, 23 minutes
Iron Man 3 (2013) - 2 hours, 11 minutes
Thor: The Dark World (2013) - 1 hour, 52 minutes
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - 2 hours, 16 minutes
Guardians of the Galaxy (2017) - 2 hours, 2 minutes
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) - 2 hours, 21 minutes
Captain America: Civil War (2016) - 2 hours, 27 minutes
Doctor Strange (2016) - 1 hour, 55 minutes
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - (2017) 2 hours, 17 minutes
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - 2 hours, 13 minutes
Thor: Ragnarok (2017) - 2 hours, 10 minutes
Black Panther (2018) - 2 hours, 14 minutes
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) 2 hours, 5 minutes
Captain Marvel (2019) - 2 hours, 5 minutes

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

L-R: Lorraine Toussaint and Grace Van Dien in "The Village"; Peter Kramer/NBC(NEW YORK) -- Lorraine Toussaint can comfortably say she's found a role that reflects her inner strength.

In her new NBC drama The Village, Toussaint plays Patricia, the matriarch of her apartment building, which happens to be called "The Village." The actress tells ABC Radio it was easy to identify with her character because she was brought up to be a strong woman.

"I come from strong women," Toussaint says. "My mother was an amazing artist and a pianist and a Montessori teacher.  My grandmother was a midwife who went from island to island on a boat -- with just a boat," she continues. "And she would show up on these islands where there were no doctors and she ministered to the women -- on a boat! So I come from these kind of Amazonian women."

Of course, Toussaint is no stranger to portraying strong women. Her roles include Orange Is the New Black villain Vee Parker and successful attorney Rene Jackson in the Lifetime series Any Day Now. Toussaint says she leans toward those types of women, and hopes to pass their traits down to her daughter.

"I'm raising my daughter to be an independent, awesome, strong-minded young woman," Toussaint says. "So, this is who I am. So it's not unusual that some of these roles-- is it [that] I attract them or they've evoked this strength in me? I don't even know anymore. It's just -- I do like independent strong girls."

The Village, also starring Frankie Faison, airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

L-R Mark Hamill, Tom Cullen -- History/Larry Horricks(NEW YORK) -- In season two of History’s Knightfall, Welsh actor Tom Cullen got the chance to work alongside his childhood idol: Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

Hamill trades his Star Wars lightsaber for a real sword to play Talus, a Knights Templar veteran tasked with training new recruits. He’s nearly unrecognizable with long grey hair and a long beard.

“When he first came onto set it wasn't like Mark Hamill was there,” Cullen says. “He really does look different. I mean he looks a little bit like Gandalf [from Lord of the Rings], in a good way. Like a battle-hardened version of Gandalf.”

Talus will determine if Cullen’s disgraced knight Landry is worthy of rejoining the Order, and conflict between the two quickly ensues. Despite their characters butting heads, Cullen says working with Hamill was a dream come true.

“He's the hardest worker, the nicest guy, gets really involved and so even before he came to set, he had already really normalized the situation and he very quickly makes you feel like you're friends,” he says. “He's a great guy.”

Season two promises redemption, revenge and some super cool stunts. As for the heavy armor his character has to wear, Cullen says they made it a little more manageable this season.

“It's not 50 pounds anymore, it's about 45,” he laughs.

Knightfall debuts season two on History tonight at 10 p.m. ET.

ABC Radio(NEW YORK) -- Christina Milian has more in common with her The Oath character Christine Parks than just their similar names. The talented actress and singer tells ABC Radio that she was able to identify with Christine's tough exterior, partly thanks to her father, who was influential in her upbringing.

"He kind of raised me like a little boy," Milian says. "So, I like that he raised me in that way and also gave me knowledge and education and stuff like that. And this and Christine Parks is very much the same."

Milian, who became a series regular in The Oath's second season, plays a police officer and new inductee of the Ravens, a local cop gang. Milian says preparing for the role wasn't too much of a stretch since she already shares some of her character's qualities.

"This character is the more tough side, the stronger more feminine side of who I am," she explains. "I think naturally as women we nurture instantly. And part of this girl's nurturing ability is to be strong and to be the head of her family for her and her sister and make sure she's provided for. So, for me there's a huge part that has been instilled in me."

Season two of The Oath, also starring Leona Lewis, Cory Hardrict and J.J. Soria, is now available on Sony Crackle.

ABC(NEW YORK) -- Julia Louis-Dreyfus will soon bid farewell to her character Selina Meyer as the hit show Veep enters its sixth and final season.

On Monday, Louis-Dreyfus stopped by Good Morning America to talk about the end of the show, and her new beginning as a cancer survivor.

A day after Veep won her another Emmy in 2017, Louis-Dreyfus stunned fans with her announcement that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The star said she is doing well today.

"I'm completely back," Louis-Dreyfus told GMA's Robin Roberts, with Julia explaining why she used social media to share her journey as Veep stalled production while she sought treatment. "I think I reached a lot of people. I was able to raise a lot of money for women who have had mastectomies, who need reconstruction but insurance doesn't cover that, and I was really happy to be able to do that. The outpouring of support was quite overwhelming."

Louis-Dreyfus said laughter from her kids and Veep coworkers was the best medicine as she underwent treatment.

As for Veep coming to a close, she called it a "creative decision," but a "bittersweet" one.

"The final episode I walked in...I saw Tim Simmons who plays Jonah Ryan...huge tall man bawling like a baby and that was it, I was slayed," Louis-Dreyfus said. "The rest of the week was just nothing but tears, happy tears, but tears because we're a very, very close-knit group of people -- really truly."

"Each day, certain characters would wrap out their season and finish and what would happen is everybody came to set," she added. "So the set was packed with over 100 give a hug to whoever it happened to be...."

The final season of Veep premieres Sunday on HBO.

ABC/Kevin Mazur(LOS ANGELES) -- Halle Berry and Gabrielle Union are two of the women who have answered the call from Oscar-winner Ruth E. Carter to participate in a fun, empowering challenge for Women's History Month.

It all started when Carter challenged a group of industry peers -- including Berry, Union, Angela Basset, Tasha Smith, Luptia Nyong'o and June Ambrose -- to "show the world when women unite anything is possible" by dancing to their favorite empowering song.

Union was one of the first to accept the fun task, adding an empowering message.

"We have all been through something in this life," she wrote, captioning a video of her lip-syncing to Mary J. Blige's "Not Gon Cry."

"All women share these common truths and we can ALL rise when we stick together and uplift each other. Let's keep this going and laugh and have fun along the way," she continued, before challenging more of her famous friends, including Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba, and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Berry also followed suit and sang to Destiny's Child's "I'm a Survivor."

"Thank you @therealruthecarter for challenging me this #WomensHistoryMonth to dance like I damn well please," she wrote alongside her video. "This one goes out to the incredible female survivors I have encountered in my life, the women who have the tenacity to live on their own terms. The ones who take risks, hustle hard and will stop at nothing to provide the best life for themselves and the people they love."

She then tagged a few of her friends, including Ciara, Kelly Rowland and Reese Witherspoon.

The challenge doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.

Hilary Bronwyn Gayle, courtesy of A24(NEW YORK) -- Emmy-winner John Turturro and Oscar-winner Julianne Moore can be seen in theaters this weekend in Gloria Bell, a romantic dramedy remake of the 2013 Spanish-language film, Gloria.

Moore plays the film's title role, a free-spirited divorcée who sheds her buttoned-up at-work persona once she hits the dance floor at night. It's during one of these outings that she meets Turturro's Arnold, but their budding romance turns out to be more complicated than their first night together.

Turturro explained to ABC Radio what draws the seemingly different characters to each other.

"People don’t want to be alone in the dark. People can fall in love at any age. To actually love someone?  That’s a different story," he says.  "To fall in love, lust? That never changes. People want to have someone, you know, in the dark. That’s a human thing people needed it for procreation, they needed it for heat. They needed it to you know, feel safe!"
Arnold's relationship with Gloria is hampered by his devotion to his needy ex, a toxic pairing to which he's still attached. Turturro says that dynamic rings true for many.

"There are plenty of people -- I’m not that way, fortunately -- who fall in love or meet someone, and they can’t sever a dysfunctional relationship," Turturro says.  "Whether that’s out of their own weakness, or guilt or their own fear."

"When I was a kid, divorce was considered like an earthquake!" he declares.  "And I knew many people who had terrible marriages, you know, my parents' generation, and they couldn’t get out of it."
Gloria Bell, which also stars Rita Wilson, Brad Garrett, and Michael Cera, opened in limited release last weekend and expands to wider release Friday.

ABC/Lorenzo Bevilaqua(NEW YORK) -- Star Wars fans know that Mark Hamill has been back and forth about director Rian Johnson's portrayal of  Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but the actor's upcoming run on the show Knightfall might reignite the debate.

At first, Hamill was vocal that the idealistic moisture farmboy-turned-Jedi Knight and hopeful redeemer of his father Darth Vader could never become who Luke was in Last Jedi: a bitter old man who nearly murdered his nephew in his sleep, and who abandoned his friends and the Jedi Order to live in self-imposed exile.

"He's not MY Luke Skywalker!" Hamill told The Independent in 2017, giving a voice to many fans who felt the same way.

Hamill quickly apologized for the comments, however.

But now, two years later, some Star Wars fans are eager to see "Luke Skywalker" with sword in hand again -- albeit a steel one -- in History Channel's Crusades-set Knightfall.

When ABC Radio told Hamill that some fans were calling it "wish fulfillment" to see him back in action, training a knight in the ways of war, Hamill interrupted, "So actually pro-actively doing something instead of just moping and brooding on an island somewhere? 'Get off my lawn!'"

Hamill smiled, adding, "Don't drag me into this, because I'm telling you, the discussion of those movies has become so contentious now that my new motto is: 'Let the movies speak for themselves.'"

"I hope they like it, but I don't wanna argue if you don't. Life's too short," he laughs.

About December's Star Wars: Episode IX, Hamill would only say, "We'll have to wait and see. It's the climax of the trilogy with the current cast, who to a person are just perfect for their roles. So I'm looking forward to it."
