A 15 year old Rapides Parish Student was arrested yesterday and has been charged with five counts of terrorizing and one count of obstruction of justice for allegedly sending threatening emails to several schools in the parish.


City of Alexandria utility customers have recently reported receiving fraudulent calls from individuals claiming to be City representatives inquiring about utility rebates and rebate credits and asking for personal information.


Gridlock continued at the Capitol Thursday as state lawmakers did not move any closer to closing a nearly one-billion dollar budget deficit that’s caused by expiring sales taxes.


Medicaid reform legislation was pulled from consideration in the House Health and Welfare Committee before it could be voted on, maintaining the special session’s current run of inaction.


In the wake of the Florida school shooting that left 17 dead, Chalmette Representative Raymond Garafalo is planning to reintroduce a bill in the regular session that would allow school educators to carry weapons on campus if they have proper training.


A high school student was arrested and two other elementary school students have been suspended from their respective schools in LaFourche Parish for alleged threats.


Secretary of State Tom Schedler faces accusations of sexual harassment. A lawsuit filed in state court in Baton Rouge alleges that Schedler sent a female state worker love letters, made sexual advancements and gave her unwanted gifts, including sex tapes.


An LSU study paid for by the waterway and shipyard industries found that the downturn in oil prices resulted in a loss of 21-thousand jobs and 1.4 billion dollars in wages from 2014-2016. The closure of the Avondale Shipyards in Jefferson Parish resulted in five-thousand lost jobs alone.
